I figure this will be the case all over. I have lost more than usual this year. (Not tons, but more than usual) Fantastic year. Great attitudes, fun experience, |
kids really enjoyed this year, even made state marching finals.
But, still lost a few more than normal. We usually have a chance to talk them back into it after band banquet, but wonít have the chance this year.
I feared this since kids are getting used to doing nothing all day. Itís going to be really hard to get them motivated for the intensity of marching band after a 4/5 month break.
I have been doing lots of things to try and combat: really cool show reveal, virtual band performance, etc.
Just wanted to know if anyone else have received an unexpected amount of emails from kids that say theyíre not continuing with band...just of out of the blue. Disclaimer: these are great kids and we have a history of great retention and providing really positive experiences
Kids donít mention anything about the current situation in their email but I feel guilty for not handling the past month correctly (too much/not enough communication, assignments, etc) and somehow causing this to happen
