I think year 5,6,or 7 is about when a lot of us sort of felt like we kind of had it "figured out". Congrats to you - keep up the good work. You sound like a very loving and dedicated teacher. I think this year is going to put a LOT of things in perspective - the whole "competitive" aspect of music vs. the joy of just being TOGETHER and making music in a group. |

I'm in my 6th year of teaching and this is by far my best year I've had with my beginners. The kids work hard, help each other, are exited about who can get their horn out the fastest, and are enjoyable to be around. Past years haven't always been this way.
This sucks that a great school year has "shut down" so abruptly. I'm finally at a point in my career where I'm getting more confident in how I teach, especially with 1st year players. We all know how important the last few months are for getting beginners confident on their horns.
With Covid-19, I'm better understanding how important it is to be thankful for every moment I get with my students, and to use this lesson in the future to soak in those good times when they are present.
I miss my students, but helping people minimize catching this horrible virus is way more important right now. Wash those hands!
