First Grout and not this. Tchaikovsky never gets a break. |
The highly anticipated possible boom crash of 1812 versus Stars and Stripes Forever will NOT take place.
Tchaikovsky arrived to competition with only 2 scores, rather than 3 original scores as required by rule.
The despondent Russian pleaded upon the discovery to allow him to make a quick jaunt back to Saint Petersburg to retrieve the missing score from his desk, but contest officials wouldn't have it, citing Tchaikovsky's history of complaining too much.
Arthur Pryor, spokesman for Sousa said, "He knows the rules. Actually, he wrote the rules. We come from the band world, where advancing because of someone else's misfortune is legit. I mean, we actually pay people to disqualify people. Rules Matter, and in this case, pretty much all that matters. "
Upon barely hearing the news, Beethoven was alarmed: "Oh my God, I have to quit humming along! Don't Hum...Don't hum. What?"
Sousa and his huge asterisk will now advance to the Rondo of 16.
