I follow international news and our country had enough advance warning to develop a contingency plan to help mitigate the crisis. There were experts in the field who gave warning of what was to come, but it wasn't taken seriously. |
The United States isn't the "Greatest country in the world" and anyone who still believes this line is delusional.
One of my band dads is a doctor and he told me today that he began stockpiling canned goods, rice, beans (but not toilet paper, because he isn't a moron) in late January. He has a 3 month supply of food right now in case it gets even worse. He, too saw this coming.
If you are referring San Antonio as the city, you are wrong-ish. You are probably thinking about the cruise ship evacuee who was quarantined at Lackland AFB, released, and developed symptoms soon after. That was actually after TMEA; the first week of March. The actual case in San Antonio wasn't until March 13 and it was travel related. The first non-travel/community spread was a few days later. This is well after the incubation period for this to be transmitted at TMEA. As for NOLA, their first was the first week of March.
Now, on a related subject. I got REALLY sick the second week of January. All the symptoms checked the COVID-19 box. When I called my doctor the first thing he asked was if I traveled in where in Asia the past few weeks. Luckily, it wasn't COVID-19 as the symptoms vanished after two days. But, what is interesting is that he was already worried about it as told me that it was only a matter of time before it spread in the US. If he could figure this out, why in the hell did it take our "leaders" to figure it out?
