Check with a violin shop in your town and see if they have a used German bass bow that they can donate. German, not French because of the extra room for your hand at the frog. If that doesn't work, anything but Glasser. They're cheap but they won't last. Something carbon fiber for durability. |
Bass Rosin: The stuff in the red case (Pops) will not hold its shape out of the case, so it will literally melt onto wherever it's left. It's actually a little too tacky for my taste. I'd ask them about one that's more solid.
If it wears out, you can take it in to get re-haired every couple of years.
cheap cheap cheap!! That metal wreaks havoc on bows. No need for expensive ones.
