They play-sound better than Yamaha, less intonation issues than Yamaha, better for jazz than concert band, they are bright horns. Just like Yamaha they are made in China. |
The Yamaha 80's series are good horns that are solid, but much higher.
You may also want to look at Cannonball before you decide.
I've play tested them at TMEA and like them overall. I would think for a personal horn they would be an okay bet to go with. I think the metal is a bit thin - plus concerns with parts, mean I wouldn't buy them my school inventory. They're not showing up any cheaper on WWBW than I know you can get a Yamaha... so if it's for a school horn I'd just say get a YAS62 instead personally. (Especially because through Cascio and WWBW you can get some much better bids on Yamaha horns)
