Have you tried just sitting down and talking with them? Maybe what is micro managing (and I HATE to be micro managed) is really just an a poor attempt at trying to learn and understand the workings of an elementary school and the classes you teach. It may be that their lack of knowing is creating insecurity on their part, so they are knee jerking and over trying to manage. Just a thought. Be real and graciously honest - I've been doing this and I know there are other ways to do things but what I've been doing is successful and this is why I do it this way. I'm glad you're here and want to hear your ideas, but it would help me for you to hear mine as well and the whys of what and how I manage my class and subject. If they feel like you are willing to hear them and want to work with them the year could turn around for you they will maybe come alongside you instead, and you could be a huge part of training up this new admin....maybe.
10th year at my school with a new principle. They came from middle school and has never been in an elementary classroom. They are micromanaging everything the teachers are doing and questions everything I do. I know they are new but Iím getting frustrated. They have even cut into my practice time with one of my grade levels and they have a concert on Thursday. I am beyond frustrated with my current admin and really thinking of looking elsewhere. Am I just overthinking this or is it time for me to move on somewhere else?
