The best HD I ever worked with was hyper-organized. If I (or other staff members) felt strongly about something (starting a jazz band class, starting a theory class, steel band, a second and eventually a third winter guard, etc) he did everything he could to help get it off the ground. He then followed through with as much support as he could. He never talked bad about my coworkers to me, as a result, I never felt like he was talking bad about me to them. I had a few parent complaints that I never knew about until weeks or months later. He handled it and defended me. |
I could walk in his office and say "my kids school called. My boy just barfed." His reply was an immediate "see you tomorrow. Hope he feels better"
He was the boss that never had to be "the boss". We all had each others back and we all still get along like a big family.
Just curious, what are some of the things that made up the best co-workers (assistant or HD) you've ever worked with?
I've seen and read about things no one likes, but what about the contrary?
For me personally, the HD I work with is very consistent with his personality and aware of sharing work load/responsibility evenly. He also makes it a point to ask about how things are going outside of work consistently.
I've never been an HD so I can't speak for assistants.
