"Extra" is not an expectation, it is "extra." "Extra" credit is not required.

I agree that, if the district spells it out as a requirement, you have a choice to make. In my 20+ years of teaching, that has never been a stipulation of my employment and I have always had a hefty stipend. I was trusted to do what was best for the benefit of the program and the students.
