If we're talking about audition day...

I pull them from school as early as possible. Any time a kid gets to miss class, they feel special.

I feed them well on the trip (lunch is the reason for leaving early). Get boosters to add to what the district allows for meal money and they get to eat somewhere special.

I add them to the morning announcements to brag on them.

I have them stand up at Christmas concert to recognize and brag on them. I recognize both the auditionees, then again the ones who made the band

I also give each of them a crisp, new one hundred dollar bill and a puppy. ...ok I'm kidding about those.
