I was suspended with pay at a previous district once. I ended up suing the district, and during discovery it was shown that the HR director violated FIVE state education labor laws regarding my suspension. In addition, she was screwing over three other teachers in the same fashion...leading the district into another 3 lawsuits. Without going into too much detail, the damages check for suspension without due process, and defamation of character would have taken care of me for three years had I not gotten another position. Now I did get another position for the next year, so I don't know if she tried to be vindictive regarding references or such (yes, amazingly she still has a job). Also, this did happen at the district level, and not TEA, but we all know that districts talk...and that talk could be even more damaging than what TEA might put on a certification (you still have it...they didn't cancel it).
Just my $0.02...your mileage may vary.
