Eliminate rehearsals outside your band class. In a class A or 2A school as I was my last 18 years you face the fact you will seldom (if never) have practices without conflicts with other activities. If you plan your marching show carefully with as few sets as possible you'll be able to clean enough to make that ONE. I'm not talking something that would be competitive at state level. Just getting to that level was the reward for my kids. Face it. They just want that trip to San Antonio! Our school policy was that our band could not go on overnight trips unless they were State level. That was fine with me because I don't do fundraising and State trips were entirely paid for by the school. We only made four trips to San Antonio in those 18 years(3 SMC & 1 HB). To me UILSweepstakes was my primary goal. We made it 15 times in those 18 years. Learning to be efficient with the rehearsal time you have is THE essential element for success!
