The schedule became so full of events that it seemed like there was never an "off season;" students that didn't care (though I had many that DID care and were awesome); behavior problems; workaholic co-workers who expected the same of me...
But mostly I left because I got tired of spending the majority of my time and energy with other people's kids and missing out on my own kids growing up. They are school-aged now, but we chose to homeschool after two years of bad experiences in public school. I do miss band directing, but I 100% made the right decision. Maybe I'll be back one day.
