This process begins at your region meeting. Every region has a UIL Music Advisory Committee representative. This person should be able to help guide you through the process. Proposals need to be voted on by the region and sent to UIL to be included on their MAC agenda. They will vote to advance it to be included as a discussion item at all region meetings across the state. If it receives enough votes, it goes back to MAC to be advanced as an action item at the next region meeting. If approved, it goes to the legislative council for final approval. Essentially, this is a 3-4 year process. A few things to be aware of: 1. Make sure the language is as close to what would appear in the C&CR as possible. UIL will not change the proposed language. 2. When an item fails, it cannot be proposed again for a specified number of years that I cannot remember off the top of my head. 3. Keep in mind its effect on the entire state. 4. Don't be apprehensive about contacting Brad Kent or Gabe Musella for their advice on how to proceed.
