I'm wondering what a reasonable budget is for band programs. I've heard of some high school programs that spend north of $25,000 for their marching band show alone, and receive additional budget material for percussion/color guard techs, equipment, etc.
If those high schools have 150+ members, I'm wondering what the budget is for the beginning band programs.
I'm specifically wondering if beginning band programs are enriched with master class teachers, clinicians, and extra resources (literature, band methods, equipment such as breathing devices, tuners, even games or PBIS style rewards) at nearly the same rate that the HS musicians are. Are we spending at least $20,000 on our beginners each year? If so, how? If not, why not?
