I had a policy that I thought was REALLY easy to obtain. A point system. Group events counted as well as individual events. Some of my kids just didn't want to participate in the individual events (all region, solo-ensemble).
In hindsight, I would trade that policy in a heartbeat to see more of my kids wearing band letter jackets.
