A few years later in my first HD job I decided to pass it out. After a about a week of reading it, I told a few of friends we were looking at it. They all told me I was nuts and I should pick something else. After another week of rehearsals we turned it in and I never considered it again.
The original score is in concert pitch, so if you do decide to go for it you definitely will want to purchase the 50th anniversary fully transcribed score.
My final thought...do you really want to spend the majority of your UIL prep time on one piece that is almost 10 minutes long? To me it wasn't going to be worth the effort, and I didn't want to make the other pieces super easy in the hopes we could pull it off. However, you know your band better than any of us so good luck if you do try it!
