Just my personal opinion, but having lived in the Austin area in the past I absolutely hated every minute. The directors are usually very focused about their program and super competitive and judgemental and there's not a lot of collaboration outside of your cluster. Even inside of that bubble can be very isolated. The cost of living is crazy high and the allergens oh my. I'd avoid teaching around there at all cost. I took a head gig in a town in the area thinking it would be amazing. I then learned why they couldn't get anybody to take the gig. If you're going to be stabbed in the back in Texas, that's the part of the state where you'll get it quickest. Oh, and traffic is a nightmare. Best of luck.
