I'm trying to give my junior jazz pianist some advice as he prepares for college - but need help.
He is advanced technically, loves the math side of comping chords, and a creative improvisor.

He wants to go into physics at a large TX university, but still wants to play jazz piano.

Do scholarships exist at large university jazz bands? If so, what are some tips on preparing music? what would be a good piece to play? What have you seen from your pianists that have made them successful?
