If they want you gone, you'll be gone. In your first 3 years in a district you can be non-renewed for just about anything. After that it's a little harder, but they can always nitpick things on your TTESS, ding you for missed bus duty or not uploading lesson plans on time, or reassign you to something else (goodbye stipend). Even if they don't let you go they can make your life miserable so you leave on your own.
ESL is stupid easy to get. I never finished my GT but it didn't look hard. If your district really wants you to get these, they're probably hosting workshops and maybe paying for the tests. These are becoming more and more common requirements. Just get it done and list it on your resume.
