I think we all agree this is a RARE occurrence for TMEA. They have done so much for students over the course of the organization’s rich history. I gotta say Mike Howard did not deserve the thinly veiled suggestion of bias, etc.
Acting overly familiar with the entirety of the situation doesn’t help anyone. It is highly possible that TMEA’s response was not asymmetric, but fully in line with policy and how the district handled the situation.
I do agree that the kids suffered. I think pride and arrogance were the cause, not TMEA. If I don’t agree with a policy, I will honor it and work to address it through the correct channels.
If we are all being completely honest, I think we have seen this kind of hot-headed vitriol (I support the “small guy”/sanctimonious behavior) before from the same parties. Ever been canned by your school while at TMEA? The adults at Barbers Hill made the choices they made. With choices come consequences.
This may not be a popular opinion, but I fully support TMEA and trust the elected and hired individuals to do the right thing.
