Colored electrical tape. Write name on tape with sharpie. Re-apply when the tape comes off.

Nothing is permanent. Don't try to make it so. Make it a part of your "Winterizing" and "Spring Cleaning" - everyone gets a new name label at the end of the first semester and before Spring Break if needed.
