It sounds like an eating disorder. I guess it could be if you do it to excess, but it works for me.
I don't eat breakfast. I don't even put cream in my morning coffee any longer. No calories until the afternoon.
Mid-afternoon I have a small snack. Something high protein, low sugar. Often it's leftovers from last night's dinner. Dinner is normal dinner. I eat healthy, but I'm not weighing my food or counting almonds.
No late-night snacks. I go at least 18 hours, sometimes more, between dinner and the next day's afternoon snack.
A few times a month I do a longer fast of at least 24, sometimes 36 hours (usually from dinner one night to breakfast 2 days later).
Lots of water. Lots of protein. Minimal carbs. I avoid added sugar as much as possible. Black coffee in the morning, sometimes a latte or coffee with cream in the afternoon. I don't count calories at all.
It's not for everybody, but it works great for me.
