LoopCollab is a new take on the loop pedal concept, but designed to make things a lot more accessible by providing all the music and organization. You can get a quick idea from this video. Please excuse my playing... I'm decades out of brass practice! [url=
I'm at a point now where I need to decide on the audience direction I take so that I can create music for them. I'm a former music teacher (Texas and later Alaska), and I built this with the hope that it can be a tool that incentivizes and enhances student practice. It has a lot of fun features, such as private community (class) collaboration, performance turn-taking that keeps mixes from getting too thick when many people participate, and octave transposition that lets a student cover the high and low parts of an ensemble mix when playing alone. I think kids are really going to like turning their violin into something cello-like and their trumpet into an "almost" piccolo trumpet or tuba. 😂 They can export their videos to share with friends or family, so I'm imagining they might make Christmas videos. Pedagogically, I believe the application will really get students to focus on their pitch and timing. It's pretty awesome for learning and practicing playing by ear and improv in addition to note reading.
I want LoopCollab to be something teachers can be as involved or uninvolved with as suits them. It has features for sharing mixes privately with teachers. But it can also be something teachers just tell their students about as an optional fun application to play with alone or with their classmates.
If you'd like to give it a try, you can find the application at https://loopcollab.azurewebsites.net. You can use the code AJUIOBU to access all of the Pro library songs. I'm not accepting money yet, as I need to create more music. Ultimately I think I'm going to be charging something around $20 per year per user.
I greatly appreciate feedback on direction here. Is this something you think will be useful for band programs? What year level would you try it with? You can see some additional videos on the site that show examples of how it might be used for beginner or advanced players.
If you would be interested in letting your students use it for free, please let me know. I really need help with this, and I very much would like to create songs tailored for your students to see if we can make something they enjoy! My email is loopcollabmail@gmail.com . Thank you so much for reading. This has been a huge personal undertaking, and I'm grateful for the chance to finally share it!
