Honestly, that is what it will probably in order to keep kids in band. I stopped doing chair tests a few years ago because too many kids were getting upset they weren't first chair. We actually had kids quit because of it. Seriously, this is what they and their parents stated (one was the student of a band director in a different district and one was a coaches kid). We've created a generation of wimpy kids who want everything for no work.
