This is going to be unpopular but until you become admin, have direct reports, and work all year long you will not make 6 figures (or most folks won't). Look at salaries for other careers and the amount of schooling goes into it and hours worked. Look at number of days on contract versus those with a year round gig that get 2 to 4 weeks PTO. Paid or unpaid most teachers get 10 to 13 weeks vacation. Even as a HS director I was getting 5 weeks in the summer plus Thanksgiving week, 2 at Christmas, 1 in march and the other assorted days that only teachers and banks get. My spouse ALWAYS worked way more than I did as a non-teacher even when I was a 6A HD. And yes, I had my share of 75 hour weeks followed by weeks of 0 hours so... And before I get my head chopped off - there is only ONE source of funding for teachers. What are the parents of your students making compared to what you are currently making? Also, you have to figure your other benefits into your total package including what the district is paying for your health insurance and retirement.
