Just from the little you have written here, I would say you need to be more direct and proactive. Do you plan for each rehearsal? Is that plan in writing? If not, there is part of the issue. With a kiddo like you have described “suggestions” for whatever reason/reasons do not work. Write out a specific plan for them for each rehearsal as part of your rehearsal outline. Tell them what to do Specifically and at what point. Make sure they follow the outline. For example measure 1 -16 of the opener go to the trumpets and correct posture and horn angles, measure 17-64–flutes have a difficult In transitions.
