Is it just me or is the level 4 this year just a bag of tricks for these kids. I understand there are parameters these composers are following. However, this year's level 4 seems to be harder than the level 5. Come on, Clifton!
Who checks these pieces to ensure they are aligned to the rubric/standards of a level 4? This level 4 seems to be a concert piece within itself; a concert piece that takes a bit of time to put together beyond just 8 minutes or so.
Many of you may disagree with this post. I just wish the rigor in each level of sightreading was the same from year to year. The pieces from the last couple of years were very doable compared to this year.....Are the writers following the same standards/rubric?
Good luck to all bands tackling the level 4 this year. Unfair to these kids, many of which, are still the Covid kids if they are in your second or third band and trying to still catch them up in terms of skill.
