After that, you talk about how the tongue and slide work together on legato slurs. The tongue is not necessary to use on lip or natural slurs after the first note of the slur. You should use a syllable that will only interrupt the air. The tongue doesn't need to touch anywhere inside of the mouth after the first note of the slur. Adjectives for the tongue use are light, effortless, and invisible. As far as slur syllables go, you can use a lot of different syllables. Na, tha la, and others work as long as they are not heard in the slur line. I use tU for my tongue syllable so to be consistent, I use dU for my slur syllable. There was one college teacher in Texas that used dar that when done the right wat will work.
The slide should move at the exact same time as the tongue works. Because the movement of the tongue is very fast the slide movement should be very fast and again at the exact same time. If they don’t work at the same time, you will get slide noise. Adjectives to describe the slide movement are fast and coordinated.
On lip and natural slurs, the air, slide, and embouchure need to move at the exact same time and in time with the tempo of what you are playing.
