Other than repetition and having them fill in fingerings, I tell my kids to "taste" the notes. I'll ask them what their favorite food is. I'll have them describe their favorite food in so much detail that they can "taste" it. I then relate it to knowing what the note feels like just by thinking about it. Additionally, we never name notes without fingering along. When I ask them what the name of a note is, they are REQUIRED to show me the fingering at the same time.
