We have a contract. That contract includes personal days at the local and state level. Saying you can’t take a day off because they don’t want to do the work of finding a sub (“there’s no subs”) is violating your contract. Small town or not, don’t roll over. This is a part of the few guaranteed benefits we have.
It is not reasonable to expect us to find coverage when absent. That is the responsibility of a manager. We are not managers.
This is grievance territory with TEA. Seriously. Small town or not, they’re violating your contract by denying personal days because they don’t want to do their job.
