They could have stayed I suppose. But they wouldn't have been a band director. They had a contract with the district and could be reassigned at any time to any other position they were certified for. They would not have been in my band hall whether they wanted to stay or not. I would go through how the process works but you probably don't want to listen. At the end of the day, I had enough documentation to take to a principal and Fine Arts Director to say they needed to be anywhere in the district but a band hall and both entities would have listened and reassigned said individual. They chose to leave knowing that's what was waiting. At the end of the day, while they were a nice human being they were a horrible teacher. I was protecting the students they were standing in front of. You know, those tax payers that right now are very unhappy and pushing for school choice so they can choose how their kids are educated. Why would we try and keep bad educators in front of students? Would you keep going to a restaurant that served you cold fries? Why would you want an educator that can't educate in your building or on your staff? Put the student first.
