I took a head job once just so I could control the schedule. You allowed someone else to come in and therefore, you now live by their rules, (to some extent). You won't change them nor should you. You passed up the gig. Your only option is to meet the standards they've set for next year, out last them and wait for them to burn out, or walk away.

It's not that hard. People leave bosses, not jobs. So either you can live with it or you can't and you either stay or you leave.
