OP shouldn't have to apply, interview, and move somewhere else to be a teacher with reasonable hours. Head director has little recourse, especially if the assistant is meeting all district and campus expectations for attendance.
Both of y'all should come to an agreement (maybe stay later a few days a week), but it shouldn't cost OP a job if they don't. Is HD really going to win this by saying "The assistant director leaves early by MY standards"?
Some of y'all head directors need to chill. What a world it would be if you asked for help and phrased positively instead of demanding it with negativity. Here are some free examples:
"Can you stay late this week to help me with this?"
"I would appreciate your help on Tuesday after school making 6th grade copies."
"Will please plan to stay late next week to prep for instrument demonstrations at the elementary?"
"I know this asking a lot, but would you be open to running sectionals on Wednesday after school?"
"Sorry to ask on short notice, but is it possible to stay late today to help with library sorting?"
"Are you still able to join me in picking Honor Band submission tapes Thursday after school?"
