We provide oboes with private lessons. Their teacher adjusted their reeds today. She said it's also their instruments. As in, one's instrument plays Bb and C loud and sharp. I used suggestions here: moved them to 3rd row, moved my bassoons on the other side of the tubas and put the oboes between my altos and the bassoons; also made sure they aren't in the middle. MUCH better! Not perfect but SO much better. Isn't it amazing how just moving the seating can change the balance of the band?
