Schools are funded by a much larger base than actually attends the campus. All those childless homes are still paying for those schools. I write an almost 10k check to the ISD my home is zoned to and I haven't had a kid in school for years. At one time, I was against vouchers but I am no longer against them. My child went to public school. Got a great education. Had I had a voucher option when they were in school I would not have used it because the school system was doing what it needed to providing them a quality, rigorous education that prepared them for the next level.
