One thing to keep in mind is that in the next twenty years a huge turnover of the generation of judges is coming. Less and less of the judges are from that old school training that truly inspired the fear here. Sadly I think in the past twenty years that mentality has really caused our own training to suffer. I had a HS director who hated marches, and that took time to overcome for me. I'm grateful to have had a mentor though who helped me understand just how cool those marches really are! We really do need to teach Sousa, King, and more modern marches. I'm a big proponent of getting a rotation in there.
Now this year I'm jumping off the paso doble cliff I've been far more terrified of... hope it works out!
