The show theme, music arranger, and drill writer was selected in the fall. Everything proceeded as usual until Covid lockdown after Spring Break 2020. I did fine with virtual aspects of teaching for the remainder of the year, but was not looking forward to the strong possibility of doing the same at the start of the next school year.

With the uncertainty of the next year, particularly the critical time of summer marching band (who was coming back in person vs. who was going to choose on-line), I made the difficult decision to retire in May. It was the best decision all around for the students and the program.

A show was in place, however the new person had time over the summer to adjust as he/she felt necessary considering the circumstances.
