Talk less, play more. Keep the instruments to faces 90% of class or more.

Also set the expectation at the beginning of the year that you’re not going to talk over them. I use a ‘by the numbers’ warmup that I’ve been known to revert to in the middle of the class if I need to. I just have them play long tones and then try again after a bit.
