I'm going to be that guy.....stop making 1st place your goal, and instead set goals based on your ensemble and they're quality. Sometimes we have to live in reality and set attainable goals.....maybe winning state marching contest shouldn't be your goal....maybe your goals (based on your complaint) should be to learn how to raise more funds, thus making you more competitive?
