Given Texas is a right to work state, these students won't have union protection to back them up if they raise that complaint. And given Texas is an at-will employment state, these students will then just be fired for NC/NS if they say they have a school activity. Then it's up to a kid to secure a lawyer or file a complaint with the Department of Labor - and all the employer has to do is say "They were fired for job abandonment" and the case is closed.
You're describing a reality that simply DOES NOT EXIST for a large number of our students and their families.
