6A D1 2021, the top eight were Allen, Southlake, North Shore, Atascocita, Duncanville, Desoto, Lake Travis, and Brennan. *None* appear on the Title 1 list except North Shore. North Shore I would count as a consistent football power - which is also easy to manage when your enrollment is over 4,000 students, which theirs routinely is.
D2? Denton Guyer, Prosper, Katy, Summer Creek, Bridgeland, Tomball, Vandegrift, and Westlake. None appear on the Title 1 list. Hell, a bunch of THOSE schools were participants, if not finalists, in UIL SMC. As were a bunch of the D1 schools, for that matter.
5A-1: Colleyville-Heritage, Mansfield Summit, Katy Paetow, Fort Bend, Denton Ryan, College Station, Flour Bluff, and CC Memorial. None are even on the Title 1 list as receiving funds at their campuses.
5A-2? South Oak Cliff is a Title 1 school. But let's not forget Dallas ISD *gives money back to Robin Hood recapture* and is considered a rich district. SOC is also a show band, and I think hell would literally freeze over before we have a show band at SMC. SOC also doesn't "consistently" make it past the second round or so of the playoffs - that's not "the top of the bracket."
The rest of the top eight in 5A-2: Cooper, Crosby, Liberty Hill, WF Rider, Texarkana Texas, Lovejoy and Alamo Heights. All fair to well off, even if some are more rural than others. None higher than about 45% Title 1.
And for what it's worth, nearly every school smaller than 5A receives *some* Title 1 funding, but few are over 50%.
So which 6A schools that are Title One are winning championships, exactly? I can think of exactly one - North Shore. And that's a function of population.
