I'm a new head director with a small/weak booster program. I think the previous directors did all of their fundraising work for them and they get frustrated that I have yet to give them any fundraising ideas. Is that normal? I was assuming that booster programs typically did their own research and selected fundraisers mostly on their own. That's how it's been everywhere I have worked as an assistant and how it worked at the high school I attended (my parent was the treasurer).
I know my role is to be an advisor to them and let them know what our students need... but maybe there is more to it. I really want them to be successful for their kid's sake and for the program's sake but I feel like my picking every single thing they do is overwhelming and a bit out of the scope of what should be expected of me.
What does your involvement with your booster program look like?
