I'm pitching the idea of a full-time colorguard director to my district. Currently our guard director is a contractor, paid with a combination of band budget and booster funds. I would love to see a para position or even a certified teacher position and redirect that budget money to other expenses.
If you have this at your school, could you please tell me:
-What responsibilities does your guard director have? Do they have some extra work that isn't guard related, in order to fill their 40 hours?
-Does your guard director work a 40 hour week, PLUS after school marching/winterguard rehearsals? Or do those rehearsals count toward their 40?
-If your guard director is a para, what is their official job title? What is the pay?
-If your guard director is a certified teacher, what is their certification?
-How big/what class is your school, and where are you located?
If you would rather not post publicly, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
