After reading this entire thread, it's painfully obvious that you are in a terrible school district and just need to get out as soon as you can find another job and are able to financially make it happen. I don't care if the district has the highest test scores in Texas, the band has won Honor Band and the state marching contest. If they are blatantly refusing to change an air filter and are risking your health and the health of your students, they don't care about staff or kids. You stated that you replaced a filter yourself, got in trouble for doing so, and they went through the trouble and effort of putting a lock on the area so that it takes a key to change the filter, yet they won't simply replace them at appropriate times. That tells me all that I need to know. Get out as soon as you are able to do so. Okay, talk to the superintendent first, but if he or she is an idiot or politician and won't do anything, leave.
