For summer band, we have rehearsals for everyone except football players in the morning. Football players have their rehearsal from 1pm-2pm. That seems short but they're all veteran band kids so I don't have to teach fundamentals, only review. And we don't have to cover stand tunes because the football players aren't in the stands during the games. During that hour I focus on show music, memorization, and teaching drill. We will usually only stay outside for about 15 min and they'll learn the sets we learned in the morning. The drill is usually very attainable for those kids since we are 1A and we keep it simple.
We don't have volleyball but cheerleading can be frustrating sometimes. They'll want to rehearse in the mornings when it is the best time for us to be outside. It just seems silly to have kids spend the morning inside a gym when they could knock out the outside stuff in the morning. However, our cheerleaders are good about marching at halftime. I just wish our cheer sponsor would release
I haven't figured out a consistent way to handle halftime. Our sup is also very hands off with this type of stuff so it basically comes down to me working things out with the AD.
