Bottom line is people are going to base it off their values. Living in West Texas isn't a value to some and they need the DFW or Austin lifestyle. I don't see anything wrong with aligning your values to ensure it's a good fit.

Then throw in other things like dating opportunities, jobs for partners/spouses, and proximity to friends/family and I see why it can be a difficult ask to live in West Texas.
