I have 2 friends from College that went straight to get a Masters in the south east, and then ended up getting public school gigs in Florida.
While we can all (rightfully or wrongly) complain about the state of Teacher Pay in Texas, it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than over there.
But it also depends on the gig you get. One of the above mention friends taught in a small district for a few years, and with a Masters, was making HALF of what I was making at the time.
Now, heís in one of the biggest suburban programs over there and makes comparable, but still less.
Texas is not perfect, but itís better than most (because most of the country is WORSE from a pay scale stand point).
