If a school has drivers during the school day they may also be driving routes during the time your band needs to leave. If a school has drivers that start their day at 5 AM to pick up kids and is still driving routes at 5 PM but you then expect them to drive you to a game and get home at midnight, (which is often a reason why directors say they shouldn't be driving because their day is too long), what's the difference? Plus those coaches have worked all day and coached a game but are expected to drive home. What makes the band director so special that they can't do the same thing? Can't tell me it's okay for the bus driver who started their day much earlier than the director to then work as late if it's not okay for the band director. Same with the coaches.

How would you suggest it be done without a bus driver working 16 hours?
