But that's the point he's making. Yes the hit that starts the Infernal Dance....super cool. THE *ONE* HIT in the entire ballet....not 483 hits. There is such a thing as "too much of a good thing", and that's where a large number of shows are at right now...overusing something to the point it is no longer effective (and not talking about just hits either).

To further the point, only a few short years ago you could watch the DCI show in San Antonio, having not seen or heard any of the shows, yet three performances in you could predict when a corps was going to have a cool synthesizer sound ascending up to a metallic "PING" along with a horn visual. That was because every single corps did this at the exact same time in all of their shows; it was almost formulaic.
